From 9 to 20 September 2024, a core team travelled on Flores for a situation analysis of the state of waste management on the island. This included site visits, meetings with local government representatives and other relevant stakeholders, data collection and capacity-building workshops in 3 districts.
The waste management analysis on Flores was led by waste management expert Hans Breukelman (BreAd BV) and Ansje Löhr, (Open Universiteit The Netherlands).
IWP served as the local cooperation partner with Marta Muslin (national coordinator at IWP) and Nina van Toulon (founder of IWP).
The core team includes
– Elprida Agustina (Lecturer at Institut Teknologi Bandung);
– Christine Halim and Tuti Hendrawati Mintarsih (Indonesian Plastics Recycling Association);
– Fariz Azhar, Founder and CEO at Kibumi;
– Tabita Suyoto, (Universitas Sam Ratulangi and Yayasan Surya Prima Mulia in Manado, North Sulawesi);
– Sartika Tandirerung (Senior Circular Economy and Sustainability Officer at Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Indonesia);
– Daniel Silaban, Universitas Sam Ratulangi.

👉 20 September Hans Breukelman and team presented the first findings during a hybrid meeting in Labuan Bajo.
